Rogue Blight Fungi Guide: What Fungi Are For and How to Get Them
Fungi in Rogue Blight explained — the mushroom currency's confirmed uses (blessings for 5, the Mimic Head's upkeep, selling challenge maps) and every farm source.
If gold buys things, fungi buy weird things — and the weird things are usually the strong ones. The mushroom counter sits in your HUD from minute one (launch screenshots show counts in the dozens), and most new players hit the second floor without ever spending one. Here’s what they’re actually for.
What fungi do (every confirmed use)
- Buy random blessings — 5 fungi each. The mushroom trader NPC trades a blessing for five fungi. It’s random, which sounds bad until you remember blessings are all broadly useful; several players treat this as the default fungi sink every run.
- Feed the Legendary Mimic Head. The Mimic Head — the mimic-chest headgear — grows your max HP, mana and stamina after every battle, and eats one fungus per battle as upkeep. It’s the strongest fungi sink in the game once you own it. Full breakdown: Legendary Mimic Head.
- Sell challenge maps. The map maker buys challenge map items for, in his words, “a feast full of fungi” — if you don’t feel like running a challenge map today, it converts directly into the currency.
- Event payouts. Steal events target fungi as often as gold — the event UI literally shows “Steal 1 fungi (90%)”.
Where to farm fungi
| Source | Yield | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Map pickups & clusters | 1–several | Destroyable mushroom growths appear constantly; hit them on sight. |
| Steal events | 1+ per attempt | High base success chance (~90% shown in-game); the event success upgrade pushes it higher. |
| Boss drops | Varies | The mushroom sovereign drops fungi as a material — thematically on-brand. |
| Selling challenge maps | Large lump | The map maker’s “feast full of fungi” line; best single payout documented. |
| Ordinary battles | Occasional | Enemies in fungal areas drop them; never a farm target on its own. |
How to spend them (a simple priority)
- Early runs: every 5 fungi goes to the blessing trader. Random blessings compound; hoarded fungi compound nothing.
- Once you own the Mimic Head: its upkeep comes first — its per-battle growth is the best long-term rate in the game.
- Challenge maps you don’t want to play: sell immediately; fungi now beat fungi later in a game where difficulty only rises.
- Never at shops: no documented shop purchase consumes fungi — it’s gold’s weird sibling, not a second wallet.
The lore footnote
The game’s own dialogue links mushrooms to the blight itself — the Lady of the Blight wears a mushroom “like a crown”, and the final documented boss is a towering mushroom sovereign that drops fungi on death. Players broadly read fungi as the blight’s living tissue, which is why half the map wants to give them to you. Mechanically, that’s flavor — but it does mean the resource you’re hoarding is the same thing that’s eating the world.
